Lessons from Michael Dobbs

If you're creating a know-it-all sleuth, what better character to start with than Beverly Hofstadter.

You have to remember - television is a monologue - you're being sold. Sure, it's entertaining and that's why you watch. But, sorry, no questions.

To enjoy Sherlock, it helps to believe that anywhere in modern-day Britain, a bully can carry a bag into a tall building and assemble a high-powered rifle and blow away anyone without a care. Sure, that's easy enough. That's how Michael Dobbs put his masterpiece together that we all love as much as NFLX who coughed up 200 mousas for it.
