Dots are an illusion : your.name@gmail and yourname@gmail and y.ourname@gmail are all going to reach you. Meaning - you can use this to see who sold your email to whom when you sign up!
Plus makes for an inline comment as in, in python # this part is ignored :)
So, yourname+new@gmail will reach yourname@gmail and you can use this to search for stuff if you signed up accordingly when you put in your email!
